In an effort to provide patients the latest medical technologies and treatment options, Dr. Masri provides interventional stem cell therapy in carefully screened patients.

What is Stem-cell Therapy?

Stem Cell therapy is a new and novel therapy that is actively being researched throughout the medical field. It is an aspect of Regenerative Medicine that may be provide additional benefit for a select group of patients. “Stem cell therapy” is a broad encompassing terminology that is actively being more refined throughout the medical literature. This refinement has lead to more specific understanding of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) which function more appropriately as Medicinal Signaling Cascades. MSCs make molecules at sites of injury and sites of broken blood vessels having profound effects on the immune system and on the regenerative potential of tissue they reside in. Essentially, MSCs help manage the patient’s innate capacity to regenerate tissues reducing inflammation and aiding in the healing process. In some patients, this type of therapy can lead to long term relief and improvement.

Who is a candidate for this therapy?

There are numerous active clinical trials and research projects being conducted throughout medical specialties to determine the most appropriate clinical applications. Patients who may respond to Regenerative Medicine and MSCs vary from having acute or chronic injuries, non-operative joint/back conditions, sport injuries (for example, labral tears/rotator cuff injury in the shoulder, meniscus or ACL/ligament injury in the knee), arthritis, neurological pain, trauma such as car accidents, or spinal pain. Prior to consideration of this therapy, a thorough evaluation and examination must be conducted to determine if a patient is an appropriate candidate.  Colorado Interventional Health Sciences will help patients’ understand the complex landscape of this growing field providing guidance for appropriate treatment.
